Stanley 78 Duplex Rebate Plane
The Stanley 78 Duplex Rebate Plane is a versatile hand plane designed for cutting accurate rebates and joinery work in timber. Manufactured from fine grey iron with precision-machined working surfaces, this traditional rebate plane delivers consistent results for carpenters and joiners working on detailed woodworking projects. The duplex design features two cutter positions to handle both regular rebate work and bull nose applications, providing flexibility for different joinery tasks. When positioned at the rear, the 38mm wide cutter is adjustable for depth of cut, allowing precise control over rebate dimensions. The included adjustable fence and depth gauge ensure accuracy when cutting parallel rebates, whilst the cutting spur enables clean cross-grain work without tearout. This 250mm long plane is ideal for cutting housing joints, creating rebates for cabinet backs, and forming grooves in door frames and window components. The bull nose capability makes it particularly useful for stopped rebates and detail work in confined spaces where a standard rebate plane cannot reach.
